Pro-One Clamp Load Solutions

Ensure ultimate clamp load for effective gasket sealing with Pro-One.

In a recent torque-load test conducted by LMATS Pty Ltd, the performance of Garlock bolts under dry and lubricated conditions was evaluated. The tests, performed at the LMATS Sydney laboratory, aimed to measure the resultant force when torque was progressively applied to bolts. Using ASTM A193 / A194 GR B7+2H hot-dip galvanized bolts, the study compared the effects of Pro-One XPL-101 spray lubricant and Pro-One EP-2 grease against unlubricated bolts.

Results indicated that lubricated bolts exhibited significantly lower static friction, with Pro-One EP-2 grease showing the smoothest motion once the bolts were in motion. This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights for industries relying on bolted connections, highlighting the importance of lubrication in reducing friction and enhancing performance.

The proven indicated that lubricated bolts, particularly those with Pro-One EP-2 grease, exhibited significantly lower static friction and smoother motion compared to unlubricated bolts. The tensile force varied with the applied torque, showing that lubrication generally improved the efficiency of the torque application. The detailed results, including tensile force measurements at different torque levels, are presented in the report for further evaluation.

  • Greater bolt clamping pressure results in a tighter sealed gasket, eliminating leakage.
  • EP-2 Gold Grease achieved double the bolt clamping pressure for the same bolt torque.
  • XPL-101 Spray Lubricant achieved significantly greater bolt clamping pressure for the same bolt torque
  • For applications requiring optimal gasket sealing and eliminating leakage, Pro-One lubricants are recommended due to their superior performance in reducing static friction and achieving higher clamping forces at lower torque values.
